Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Alberta, but early detection through screening greatly improves survival rates. However, awareness of updated screening guidelines, including the lowered self-referral age from 50 to 45, remains low. To address this, three leading healthcare organizations launched a bold campaign for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Targeting women aged 45, the campaign used humour, nostalgia, and relatable visuals to empower women to prioritize their health and demystify mammograms.

Our brief for the theme for the 45th Advertising Club of Edmonton Awards was to create a fun, celebratory event. We immediately noticed a parallel. ACE’s first year was 1977. This was also the first year of Studio 54. What better than an ode to the original party palace?

Naturally, Studio 45 was born. From a Disco Dictionary to the winner’s book to event signage, each piece was a direct homage to Studio 54.

We commemorated this milestone year with a legendary party unlike anything Edmonton had ever seen. Studio 45 was met with electric reviews from our community, who dressed the part.
